Chinon to Richelieu cycleway.

This was a lovely countryside ride along a disused railway track on smooth asphalt. Only a short 22km each way ride passing open fields and scattered Chateau. Old railway stations along the route are set up with cycle repair facilities which are free to use as well as fresh water taps to fill up your bottles.

The small village of Richelieu is a stunning place with a massive central square surrounded by small cafe’s and places to eat

It’s certainly worth a visit by if you’re in the area.

Chinon itself is so lovely we ventured there 3 times to enjoy a coffee on the man made beech at the side of the river. A very popular site for cyclists. Many cycleways are available from here going in all directions but as yet we haven’t explored along the river bank routes. But we will be back there soon to investigate.

Ride rating. 7/10

Scenery. 8/10

Coffee stops. 8/10
